OK, I’ll write about the debate

We don’t usually do much commenting on the news here because there are plenty of sites that do that. The only time we do is when we have a take that is different than anything we’ve seen elsewhere. And so it is with the first presidential debate. We had two reactions that we’ve not seen anywhere else, but are arguably more important. First, President Trump should have opened the debate by saying the following: “My fellow Americans. Tonight, I’m going to be saying a lot of things you’re probably going to be hearing for the first time. You’ll be…

Imagine switching ideologies

Imagine if you were are a long-time, hardcore liberal, and you decided to switch to conservative. Or, think about if you were a conservative all your life, and made the decision to become a liberal. What would you have to do? What mental adjustments would you have to make to complete the transformation? If you were a liberal, and you wanted to be conservative, there would be some heavy lifting. First, you’d have to get angry. Very angry. All the time. About everything. You’d have to really start listening to every word anyone said to you and watching for…

Difference between a bull and a china shop

There’s a difference between being a bull in a china shop and just being a bull. President Trump is a bull. He’s confident, certain, and unafraid. He believes in what he thinks is right, he loves this country, and he’s going to do what he thinks is right for it. Unfortunately, thanks to the evolution in our education system over the last 20 years, he’s now living in a china shop of a country. While the United States used to be known for their confident, pioneering, there’s nothing we can’t do spirit, it’s now country founded on slavery. Liberals…

Who are conservatives?

Conservatives are pragmatists who follow politics. They live their life as best they know how. They’re good to their family and neighbors. They make decisions based on the evidence available, and they tend to be fairly logical, pragmatic, and long-term in their thinking. It doesn’t occur to them to think in demographic identity generalities the way the Democrat Party presents things. When dealing with someone, they just deal with them based on the information they’re given. Moderates are pragmatists who don’t follow politics. Like conservatives, moderates also live their life as best they can, making decisions based on the…

The diabolical Democrat strategy

Today I had an articulation. (When I have a revelation, it’s a new idea… a “eureka!” moment. But when I have an articulation, it’s when I finally am able to put words to vague idea that’s been rolling around in my head for awhile.) I finally figured out the diabolical, but impressively creative, Democrat strategy. They’ve been doing this in concentrated fashion for the last two or three years, though I think it’s been a vaguely coherent strategy for longer. In simple terms, they say things that are obvious to everyone, or that everyone does, like they don’t. They…

Breonna Taylor judgment underscores liberal emotional base

No one is surprised that the Breonna Taylor ruling lead to waves or protests. Those protests were pre-planned and set to role no matter what the verdict. To me, the takeaway is how much it underscores how much liberals are governed by emotion over fact. Contrary to the original narrative, the officers knocked, they announced themselves, and they only fired their guns after Taylor’s boyfriend shot first. She was not asleep, but she apparently was involved in laundering money for her ex-boyfriend, the drug dealer. So what? That’s the message from liberals. It doesn’t matter. They still feel really…

Actions have consequences

In the past two weeks, there have been at least two instances of cars caught in the middle of Black Lives Matter protesters that have decided to hit the gas and get out of there. One of them was a police officer… The other was a regular citizen making the decision that if was going to be him or them, he was choosing him. (The absolute best thing about this video happens at 1:37: “You can’t just honk and run people over… OH!”)j Here’s another view of it… What strikes me about both of these is not the stupidity…

Paying reparations

Can you imagine if everyone who suffered an injustice were paid reparations? How would we determine whether or not it was an injustice? And if we all agree it was an injustice (I mean, injustice happens all the time, but it’s still interpreted very differently from person to person), was it severe enough to warrant reparations? What is the statute of limitations on reparations? I think we can all agree that slavery constitutes a grave injustice (that has been happening to people of all races and religions since the dawn of recorded human history). There’s slavery happening to this…

Choose your own election

Since I’ve been paying attention to American politics, I’ve always been fascinated by politicians who are seemingly universally disliked but still seem to win election after election after election. As a representative republic, it’s by design that we all vote for the person we want to represent our state or district. It’s one of the foundations of our Constitution and a great way to make sure we all have some sort of say. But imagine if we changed the rules. What if we made it so everyone was allowed to vote for one Senator and one Congressperson, but you…

Packing the court

One of the threats (or promises) Democrats have been making for the last few years is that if they ever get control of the Senate again, they’re going to pack the Supreme Court by adding seats and the judges to fill them. The Constitution doesn’t say much about the Supreme Court. Essentially, the Senate is able to determine the size of the court. If they want to add or take away seats, it would be fairly easy for them to do. Given their behavior in the last year, in particular, it’s not hard to imagine that the Democrats would…
