The party of projection

The foundation of the Democrat Party is based squarely on projection. If you want to know what they are or what they stand for, you simply have to listen to what labels they use to describe conservatives. Go down the list… racism sexism homophobic anti-science uneducated fascist wealthy intolerant The list is longer, but these are the ones you hear most often, so let’s address them. Democrats can’t look three feet without seeing a racist. They see racism everywhere, in everything. This is partly because they see race. When Democrats see a black person, they think, there’s someone who…

The real purpose of the “anti-science” label

The idea that half of the United States adult population is anti-science is ridiculous and implausible. In this golden age of innovation, artificial intelligence, data science, global health (coronavirus, not withstanding), presence in space, and atomic energy, the idea that there’s an entire political party that is anti-science is foolish. But, here we are. Democrats have successfully branded conservatives as anti-science, and, as usual, the Republican Party’s marketing department, the worst marketing department in the history of marketing, has done nothing to address or refute the claim. So we at the Bubbler will take care of it for them….

Media bias: let me count the ways

Today marked the convergence of several items that should explain, quite neatly, why conservatives have no faith in the media. Before we go on, let’s agree on the founding principle of the media: freedom of the press is a critical element to a healthy, functioning democracy, because without informed citizens, government and private industry can do what they want, without check. And here’s one additional perspective, relating to media bias: The UK handles their media with openness about their biases. For example, everyone knows which newspaper is conservative and which is liberal. The idea behind this is that they…

Abortion on the beaches – unraveling the hypocrisy

This weekend, I read a comment somewhere that said, about liberals criticizing those who chose to go to the beach, “I thought it was my choice to do what I want with my body.” At first glance, this appears to be just another clever observation in a long line of examples exposing liberal hypocrisy. But then, when it comes to abortion, I’ve always wondered about the conservatives and liberal stances on this. I thought it contradictory that conservatives wanted the government to make the rules on abortion and liberals to not want the government involved when, in nearly every…

Our plan to save hospitals is destroying them

Everything we’re doing right now with this lockdown was designed to “flatten the curve.” The intent was to hold off the virus spread so hospitals could get ready for the surge of new patients. Well, I think they’re ready. In fact, I think they’re moving past ready and firmly into closing down territory. Hospitals all over the country are sitting far emptier than they’ve ever been as staff lose their jobs due to inactivity. In other words, there are no patients. There are nowhere near the projected coronavirus patients. But more importantly, there are also no elective surgeries, no…

Has Trump been assimilated?

As conservatives, we’re completely at home with a Republican organization that has no spine and the worst marketing department in the history of marketing. Conservatives, by their very nature, don’t usually protest. They’re too busy going to work, earning money for themselves and their families, and living their lives. They do their protesting at the voting booth. And with that voting, they’ve always expected that they could hire Republican representatives who would not only stick up for the cause, but go on offense and push it forward. However, conservatives have only been trained to be disappointed. While they have…

Forget the pandemic, Trump reacted too slowly on the economy

So much irony. So much getting it wrong. So much rewriting history. We’ve been told that President Trump was slow to understand and react to the pandemic, but most of the evidence suggests it’s just the opposite. He closed travel to China before anyone thought it was a good idea, and then they chastised him for it. He’s moved companies to produce the equipment we need. He’s been given credit (rightly or wrongly) for suggesting we can sterilize masks, rather than have to produce more in mass quantities. He’s given us sometimes useful daily updates to keep everyone informed….

COVID thoughts: so, are we winning?

Remember when people used to come to work with a cold or flu, and we’d all get annoyed and tell them to go home. Then they wouldn’t, and we’d move on. Then we’d get sick and do the same thing. I wonder how that’s going to go, when we all get back to work. If this is a war, haven’t we already surrendered? Isn’t that what cowering in our homes represents? Why do we allow smoking, drinking, marijuana, driving, and ice cream? They all kill us, don’t they? It may not be as quickly as coronavirus, but… How come…

In other news… Apple blows the new SE

There’s simply too much coronavirus news out there. So let’s take a break from that, and talk about a terribly missed opportunity… For those of us who know the 2016 iPhone SE to be their best phone to date, you’re going to be disappointed in the recent announcement of the 2020 version of the SE. Unfortunately, Apple has never made a better design than this: The most important element of this phone is represented by the sideview in the image above. This is a phone with a literal edge, making this the easiest phone to handle, and not drop,…

What the hell are we doing? Time to get back to work!

I was speaking with a tax professional today, and we were talking about all of her clients. She was telling me tales of real people who had saved up to start businesses that are now gone. She was recounting those who made investments in their business that will probably not come to fruition before the money runs out. We shut down the government out of fear that the coronavirus would ravage the country and kill… what? Thousands? Hundreds of thousands? Millions? Who knows? It was all based on projections made before we knew hardly anything about it? But what…
