Don’t be afraid

Growing up, I didn’t find myself working on too many home projects. So I never felt that equipped to do carpentry or home renovation work. Then I married a woman who’s father was a contractor. When it came time to replace all of the windows in our new house, he told me he would help me do it by myself. Having done nothing like it before, I was a bit nervous about my ability to do it properly. I was especially afraid of making a catastrophic mistake and damaging the home. Sure enough, between removing the old windows and…

The irony of Rush paving the way for Trump

Since the death of Rush Limbaugh, many conservatives have expressed the notion that Rush made it possible for Donald Trump to win the presidency. The premise is that it was Rush’s early and consistent support of Trump, along with years of Rush establishing the premise of a political elite, that pushed Trump over the finish line. What I find a bit ironic about this is that while Rush Limbaugh and Donald Trump both share an absolutely fearless and brave approach to expressing their ideas and fighting for their causes, their actual talent doesn’t belong in the same paragraph. There…

Drive your own speed

Today I set out to make a 3 hour drive on a long and straight highway. The speed limit was 70 mph for most of it, and I was driving around 80 mph. About an hour into the drive, I could see I was gaining on a car ahead of me. Eventually, I found myself next to him, and was assuming I would just carry on by. Following the science, as leftists love to do, I think it’s a fair conclusion that if I was driving 80 mph for an hour, and I was gaining on a driver ahead…

Sunday digest: 3-7-21

Thank you for sharing some of your valuable time to read The Bubbler. The Bubbler now contains more than 700 thought-provoking posts about conservatism. While there are hundreds of sites that report or comment on the news from a conservative perspective, this is the only place the explores who conservatives are, what they think, and why they think it. With so much great content that may have preceded your arrival, Sunday’s are going to feature past posts. This week, with the H.R.1 bill legalizing every single aspect of voting that enables voter fraud, I thought it best to address…

Trust conservative consumers

What happened to American corporations that so many insist on bending a knee for vocal American leftists (if you can call someone an American leftist)? When did our companies become so scared of the politically correct? Whenever some leftist group makes noise about some cause or issue, America’s corporate marketing departments go running for their lives. Black Lives Matter, the admitted communist organization, has raised millions of dollars from American corporations. Pride parades across America have companies falling all over themselves trying to get the best sponsorships. Commercial services go out of their way to place as many black,…

Our romance with the US is gone

People take the Founding Fathers for granted. It was a long time ago. The Constitution seems obvious nowadays. We take it for granted. Who’s read the Federalist papers? The Founding Fathers were slave owners. Who are the Founding Fathers? Et cetera, et cetera. If you ever read any of the writings of the Founding Fathers, especially the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution, you’ll see that aside from the philosophies and ideas they express, there’s a true passion. This country was a labor of love to them. It was a project. It was truly an experiment. There was nothing…

Can we all stop righting wrongs?

This morning, I was half-listening to a local news report in which they were speaking to a worker who said to the interviewer, “I’m just trying to right the wrong.” I don’t know what the news story was, and I don’t have a clue what wrong she was trying to right, but I couldn’t help but think, can we all just stop trying to right wrongs for a minute? I think that’s one of our country’s biggest problems right now is everyone thinking they have to get involved in everyone else’s business and right all their wrongs. And since…

If you can’t beat ’em…

Conservatives should be spending their time, right now, reaching out to illegal immigrants and assimilating them to American culture. When the internet was in its infancy, the newspaper industry’s approach was to resist putting their content online because they didn’t want to cannibalize the print edition. They thought if people could find it online, they wouldn’t purchase the newspaper. The newspaper industry had an opportunity to be on the forefront of citizen journalism and maintain, if not elevate, their importance as a news source. Instead, they chose to fight a war against an opponent that wasn’t even playing. They…

Focus on inspiration

It’s clear Democrats have chosen to own victimization. It’s in our news, in our entertainment, and in our schools. I just received this week’s email from our school principal, and as usual, it’s a weekly newsletter full of highlighting the victims. There’s notes from the counselors about how teens can manage their stress and anxiety. There’s a note from the librarian recommending “All American Boys,” which is a book with alternating chapters – one written by a white high school boy and every subsequent chapter by a black high school boy. Then there’s a note from the principal about…

What’s phase two for BLM?

I think it’s safe to say at this point that we’re well into phase one of the BLM movement. The first step was to get every business in town to fly the banner. Whether they believe the hype or just don’t want to be burned to the ground, businesses and neighborhoods have painted the letters B-L-M over their doorways in lamb’s blood in hopes that the mob will pass them by. Everyone feels all bad and self conscious about all of their interactions with anyone who’s not exactly like them. Tall people are making sure they don’t offend short…
