Overplaying their hand

Did the Democrats learn anything? For eight years, during George W. Bush’s presidency, they spent every waking moment, every possible news story, every media appearance, and every speech convincing us that President Bush was the most horrific, evil, stupid, ill-intentioned, meanest, lost, inarticulate, careless, and dangerous person on the earth. For the past four years, they’ve expended many times that energy on President Trump. They think their message is a warning. But in fact, the real message is that somehow, the majority of voting Americans are so stupid that they actually voted for the most evil human being on…

“Uncertain times”

I think people have this view of 2020 entirely backward. If we learned anything this year, it should be that times were always uncertain. There is never certainty. Nothing is ever predictable. No one ever knows exactly what’s going to happen next. Who new there would be coronavirus? Who knew England would vote to leave the European Union? Who knew Hillary was going to lose? Who knew Hillary was going to lose to Obama? Who knew the World Trade Center was going to fall? Who foresaw the fall of the Berlin Wall? Who could predict that every environmental prediction…

Context: the enemy of the sheep

When people want to believe something badly enough, they’ll be quick to believe something that is edited or presented to look the way they want it to look. Today’s example comes from President Trump’s rally in Prescott, AZ. During the rally, he talked about how he would go about fundraising if he had no dignity and wanted to raise money in big $25 million chunks instead of the grassroots support he’s currently getting. A short clip was taken from that 1.5 hour speech which shows Trump talking about a call to Exxon to raise money. Of course, as is…

Another emotion on the way

You never know when someone will say something seemingly simple that will change your whole outlook. I woke up in a really bad mood today. Mad at the world. Sick of all the discord and stress. Done with the politicization of everything. I was just angry. So, I called a member of my in-house staff, and we talked it through. But in the midst of our conversation, she happened to say, “emotions are like weather fronts, they’re always changing and there’s always another one coming to replace the current one.” It struck me because it’s absolutely true. If you’re…

If liberals only understood how conservative they were

One of the original motivations for this blog, and my upcoming books, is because there are many people out there who consider themselves liberals, or Democrats, who are actually very conservative. They figure that they’re not racist, homophobic, sexist, or bigoted, and that’s what they’re told conservatives are, so they must be liberal. So they go about their lives applauding and valuing accountability, self-reliance, personal responsibility, taking risks, speaking one’s mind, having a good time, applying common sense, freedom, liberty, understanding how economics work, trying to be a good and fair person, and generally minding their own business: all…

You are not reading right now

This is not a blog. You are not online. This page is not on the internet. These are not words. These words are not in English. This isn’t saying what you think it’s saying. What is your problem? You are mowing the lawn right now. You always mow the lawn. It’s what you always do. Always This is not the fourth paragraph. Don’t you even know what paragraphs are? Haven’t you ever seen words? If you have, you’d know these are not them. This post represents the sum of the Democrat strategy to win the 2020 election. Don’t believe…

Voting: Ya gotta want it

If it were up to me, voter registration drives would be illegal. There would be no mention of when election day is. Pro-voting advertising would be forbidden. One would have to pass the US citizenship exam before being allowed to vote. We would only vote in person, on election day. There would be no early voting. There would be no mail-in voting. Barack Obama is out with a series of videos repeating the line from the 2020 Democrat National Convention: “Make a plan to vote.” What the hell does “make a plan to vote” mean? It’s not hard. Get…

2020 is brought to you by the word “gaslight”

As I wrote a few days ago, this is the year when nothing means anything and everything means nothing. Up is down. Black is white. Big is small. The Democrat Party has decided this is the year in which they convince you not to believe your own eyes and ears. That rioting? Those are peaceful protests. Going to church is a COVID super spreader event, but the virus knows no protests. Today, Joe Biden just tweeted the following: “I’ll be a president for all Americans. Not just the ones who vote for me.” This from the man who leads…

Who would even think to say that any one group’s lives matter

Where did this idea of “black lives matter” or “all lives matter” begin? Who would even think to say it. One of the foundational elements of America is that life is precious. We have an entire Constitution devoted to the idea that each individual only gets one life and they should be free to pursue their dreams with as little restriction as possible (usually defined by when one’s pursuit interferes with another). Life is taken for granted in this country. It’s one of our bedrocks. Life is important and precious, and it’s a tragedy every time a life is…
