Masks are the new floss pick

Every day I go for one, if not two walks, and every day, I see discarded masks littering the streets and trails. Masks are the new floss pick, which were the new cigarette butts. Back when smoking was more popular and less dangerous, it was fairly common to see cigarette butts littering the streets and walkways. That waned as people started to give it up. So, we replaced it with floss picks. When floss picks arrived on the scene, people were discarding those on the streets left and right. You couldn’t swing a dead cat without hitting one. But…

Who would you rather have in charge?

Leftists have an unquenchable thirst for power. They always have. It’s the nature of their personality. Leftists aren’t content to let people make the choices they think best for them. They’re not happy to leave things to chance. Leftists aren’t comfortable not knowing what people will do when left to their own devices. To get the power they crave, they’ll aggressively go to any lengths necessary. They’ll demonize half the country. They’ll destroy people’s lives. They’ll pit friends, genders, races, and even family members against each other. Anything it takes to win power and take control of the country….

If you can’t beat ’em…

What would happen if conservatives simply decided to join Antifa. Sure, the whole destruction, assault and battery, and getting in everyone’s faces things is pretty opposed to what most conservatives believe, but the ultimate target of Antifa isn’t far off. Antifa is after the powerful. Sometimes they get mixed in with Black Lives Matter activists, and that makes them seem pretty pro-communism. But if their really going to own their name – Anti-fascism – then how about conservatives join the movement, in mass numbers, and make them truly own it. Why don’t conservatives, who are also anti-fascism, join the…

Writers aren’t copywriters

This one’s a little marketing specific, but I had to take a minute. Everybody thinks they’re a writer. Most people are not. I edit a fair amount of work, and it’s pretty impressive just how poorly most people write. That’s OK. Writing, like most things, is a skill. Some are better at it than others. Like with most requirements in life, we often make the mistake of thinking because we learned to do it at an early age and have been doing it our entire lives, that we can do it as well as anyone else. But in fact,…

Socialism vs capitalism

Socialism lends itself to the worst temptations of man by encouraging gain at other people’s expense. Capitalism understands that men are not angels and builds in safeguards and peer pressure to prevent them from ruling over others. They’re complicated philosophies… but not that complicated.

Big pan flute

Big pan flute is taking over our cities. It was easier to see prior to the lockdowns, but it was difficult to visit a farmer’s market or tourist attraction in any big city across America without running into a Native American pan flute group playing El Condor Pasa, by Simon and Garfunkel. For years, I would witness these groups, all playing the same song, and wonder if it was, in fact, just the same group of five guys touring the country, playing only that song. I’m afraid I have no evidence to suggest otherwise.

The perfect life

Living the perfect life means you were never in anyone’s way. You didn’t impede others from pursuing their own dreams and happiness. You didn’t block anyone else. You didn’t knowingly or unknowingly gum up the works for another. You didn’t prevent someone else from doing something they were trying to do. Likewise, it means no one ever got in your way, either.

If everyone were like me

Someone recently yelled at me, “You just want everyone to be like you.” The first pass, natural reaction is to conclude that’s a bit unreasonable. No one wants a world full of people who are all the same. But then I thought about it a bit more and considered the concept. If everyone were like me, they wouldn’t care how much money others had. They wouldn’t care what celebrities do with their free time or money. They wouldn’t watch or listen to corporate media. People would be nice to everyone and try to be helpful when and where possible….

The steep price of experience

The first time you do anything is always the hardest. You don’t know what to expect. You don’t know what the experience will be. There are things you won’t anticipate. Once you have experience, you can start anticipating and navigating a bit better. You’ll be more effective. It’s a better place to be when you’re handling something big. Or is it? When someone you love is going through something horrible, it’s very difficult for friends and family to handle or navigate. Second-guessing is at an all time high. You’re always searching for the right thing, but rarely do you…
