Privatize the police force

Due to one the greatest overreactions in American history, we seem to have collectively decided that because of the unnecessary death of one black man due to questionable police tactics, all of the police men and women across the entire United States wakes up every morning hoping for a 911 call so they can show up, find the nearest minority, and start shooting. The thing is, not everyone seems to be on board. In fact, it appears many people like and support their local police force and would not only like to see them funded, but would actually like…

What are the mayors up to?

In many of our largest cities, which happen to all be led by Democrat Mayors in states led by Democrat Governors, rioters and looters are actively destroying property, vandalizing wherever they go, and injuring or killing people along the way. What I’m trying to figure out is what is the leadership thinking? That’s not intended as a rhetorical question or an implied reaction. I’ve been trying for some time to try an figure out what these people are thinking. What is their angle? Why are they letting all of this go? I’ve approached this question from every angle I…

Just shoot ’em

If you’ve spent any amount of time on Twitter, chances are you’ve come across at least one video of Antifa protesters doing something horrible to someone who couldn’t defend themselves. I’ve seen protesters standing in the way of an elderly woman with a walker who was trying to cross the street, an elderly woman with paint thrown on her, a woman with a walker who was pushed over, and even a small child kicked by a teenage kid. If you’re like me, you were overcome with a need for justice, and you wish you were there to make things…

Job description: People will try to kill you daily

Because we’re letting the domestic terrorists who are destroying cities like Seattle and Portland get away with their destruction with no arrests or instant bail, many people have gotten more aggressive about resisting arrest. Resisting arrest has always been a good way to get a police beating, but now, with so many Americans turning against the police, lawbreakers are starting to feel it and resist arrest. As a result, police are more often finding themselves in a position in which they have to use deadly force to subdue the suspect and protect themselves. Meanwhile, protesters and rioters are actively…

COVID case numbers are meaningless

We identified this virus at some point in January, but it’s irrational to think it wasn’t already here in December, if not November. It simply had to have been traveling the world before anyone specifically identified it. And since it came out of China, who has already illustrated it had little incentive to warn anyone, it may never be entirely clear exactly when the cat was let out of the proverbial bag. Obviously, we couldn’t immediately test for it, because we had to learn more about it before we could conceive of and mass produce an adequate test to…

People aren’t stupid

That statement – “people are stupid” – has always rubbed me the wrong way. In my experience, the person who says that thinks they’re smarter than everyone else – which, in itself, is stupid. When you think you’re smarter than everyone else, you fail to empathize. You fail to account for the infinite number of perspectives that people have. You fail to account for all of the different experiences people are bringing to the table that informs the lens through which they see events. It’s not that people are stupid. It’s that there are too many stupid people…

Taking time to assess…

In 2020… Which quality is more likely to cost someone a job, being black or being conservative? Which quality is more likely to cost someone a friend, being black or being conservative? Which quality would someone find more surprising as they got to know you, finding out you are black or finding out you are conservative? Which quality gives you a better chance of being beaten up or killed, being black or being conservative? (Not including anyone who lives in Chicago…) Which quality are people more likely to try and hide, that they are black or that they are…

Wow! COVID really does end on Nov 4

Today, I was talking to a friend who works in a Wisconsin school district. She said they had been informed that they were going to start the school year with virtual classes and reassess on Thursday, November 5. I thought I had heard this was the case elsewhere, so I searched “school reassess november 5” on Google. Just looking at the first page of results, it appears at least Portland, Seattle, DC, Maryland, and Virginia will all be starting virtually and reassessing on November 4th, 5th, or 6th. The running joke, especially among conservatives, has been not to worry…

Make voter registration drives illegal

There’s been increasing attention paid to how we’ll all be voting in the 2020 election. Not surprisingly, I have a different perspective on voting than many. There are many things about it I just don’t understand. Why do we allow early voting? First, the more time that people have to vote, the more time there is for unsupervised voter fraud. When we were all voting on one day, there was only one day to commit whatever fraud one was intent on committing, and when we voted at the polls, they had to be on site to do it. But…

It’s not racism, it’s elitism

We all agree we have a problem in this country that needs to be solved, but it’s not racism. It’s elitism. It’s the inconsistent application of the rules. But it’s not different rules for blacks and whites. It’s different rules for those who consider themselves elite. By elite, I’m not talking about wealthy people. I’m talking about those who are very vocal about telling us all how we should live while not applying those rules to themselves. The list is endless: George Floyd and John Lewis get packed funerals with no distancing and few masks, but no one else’s…
